Character Summaries
Establishment Characters:
Trinity Puppeteer Jackals (3, male or female):
These are the leaders of the world. They are the corporate elite, the
church, powerful
shareholders who organize think tanks and cast their shadow over
governments. They are structured as a greek chorus sitting on top of the
world. They are the Papa Geppetto’s controlling all the other establishment
characters.
Nazi Mad Scientist (Male): He desires to be
God. He is the figurehead president of the world. He wants to know what it
is to make life at any cost. He is the direct connection to the Trinity
Puppeteer Jackals.
Drill Sergeant (Male): The Nazi’s right hand
man. He is responsible for carrying out the Nazi’s orders. He is
disconnected from his thoughts. He doesn’t question, just does as he’s told.
He considers that his job and views himself as being noble.
Faux Queen (Female): The Nazi’s creation in the
form of a hive queen pop diva the likes of Celine Dion. She is raised up for
a superficial ability. Her mediocrity is celebrated. It makes the masses
believe they can achieve greatness. She is given to the population to be
idolized and spread mass consumption and propaganda. The population focuses
on her while the establishment heads work their dirty little deeds. She is
vacuous, no depth or thought what so ever.
Rabid Chickens (Male or Female): The
establishments minions used to torture. They are a demonic version of the
holy ghost.
Malcontent Characters:
Gadfly (Male): A homeless drifter. A 1930s
like hobo who rejects the status quo. He embodies all gadflies. He is
Gandhi, King, Dali, Mother Theresa, Mandela, Sojourner Truth, Toussaint
L’Overture.
Shaqueefa Flowers (Female): A seeker of truth.
Frustrated and unable to accept a stagnant environment. Her soul tells her
there is more than what is shown in the world. She’s a soul sister on a
journey.
Hero Twins: (Male) Characters from Mayan
folklore fully explained in act two scene two’s Equinox At Chichen Izta.
"Status Qou" Characters
Mr. Mouth (Male): Talking head for the
establishment. He got hired because he said the right things. He is mostly a
believer of his rhetoric but when he’s up against it he won’t endanger his
position. He doesn’t want to know to much, just keep doing what he’s doing.
Middle America Man: A creature of habit.
Survives / exists in a stagnant environment. He never questions unless the
effect on him is beyond obvious. He holds many prejudices. He sees those
“other” people as the reason the world is so wrong. He has gone along with
the status quo ever since he can remember. He doesn’t like to rock the boat.
He believes in mediocrity as brilliance. Information is dangerous in his
eyes. He doesn’t want to know the realities of the world. He likes the fake
world he resides in and anyone who has ideas that could burst his bubble
must be ignored. He doesn’t think, just reacts.
Mechanic (Male): He represents all the stereo
types of the reptilian mid-brain thinking man. He rules over his household
with an iron fist. He likes his beer and sports and you better not interrupt
those activities. He doesn’t have much to offer beyond gutter talk.
Smug Low Level Executive (Male or Female):
Arrogant. He thinks he’s better than all his peers. He believes he can
attain the status of those like the Nazi. He’ll step on anyone to get ahead.
Ethics aren’t a consideration yet he doesn’t see himself as corrupt. He
thinks he’s owed status. It’s his rightful position. Like the Nazi he wants
to show power over people but unlike the Nazi he will never raise himself to
such a level. He’s highly delusional. He’s frustrated that he’s not moving
up the ladder quickly so he abuses everyone below him. “The guy with the
biggest pile wins” is his credo. He has been marginalized by the system yet
he does attain some level of status but only at the expense of massive debt.
Innocent Child (Female): Innocence, honesty,
truth and clarity. She is the malcontent’s third eye.
Paper Boy (Male): An innocent announcer of the
current events. “Out of the mouth of a babe.” He lives under the
establishment but doesn’t buy into all of it. He questions. He wants to know
what life is all about. He wonders if there is more than what is offered by
the establishment.
Gadfly’s Father (Male): Strict, mean spirited,
in Nazi dress.
Gadfly’s Mother (Female): Strict, mean spirited,
in Nazi dress.
Possible Extra Characters:
Dance Troupe for the song “Equinox at Chichen Izta.” Other characters
can be determined at rehearsal to enact The Native American genocide, and
the Katrina debacle for the song “Forgotten.”
MUSICIANS AND EXTRAS GUITAR,
BASS, DRUMS, MALE / FEMALE VOCALS: Musicians as extra characters
or stage ornaments which will be decided at the rehearsals.
