Objective

I will take you through the steps of being a musical artist by:

·   Understanding your instrument through theory and technique.

·   Finding yourself in the art form and putting your personality into your own compositions.

·   Improvising over your own compositions.

·   Learning how to prepare for a recording session all the way to achieving a final product to document what you have created in a way that works best for you.

 

Work experience

[  2005 - present  ]

 Guitar Explorations               Owner Instructor

·     Currently teaching students from his home studio "The Center for free Thought."

·     Teaching music theory, technique, composition and defining ones individuality.

·     Giving the student the information on how to take a composition from its early stages, to performing it with a band, recording and self releasing it.

 

[  2001 - present  ]

 Styrocultural Antidote     Band leader, founder

·     Composer, guitarist, producer, arranger, engineer, booking agent for this all instrumental trio.

·     Began performing with the trio in 2002 to present.

·     Released the CD “Sweat Hog” in 2003

·     Released both the CD and DVD “Styrocultural Antidote Bootlegs… Styrocultural Antidote” 2003

·     Released the DVD “The Shakespeare Lady” 2004

·     Released the CD “Observing Life Through Traffic” 2005

·     Currently mixing the new CD entitled “Stupid Like Cow” due out 2007

·     Working on a new DVD entitled "3incarnation."

·     Ron is now composing for a new CD including one based on a just intonation tuning system of 36 notes per octave.

 

[2000 - present]                Musical Thesis

·   Wrote his own musical theory (which continues to expand) based on composite scales harmonized off all twelve tones creating a vast family of sound. This theory is now being used in both of his current musical projects.

 

[  1996 - present   ]           Project leader/founder

 No Cheez Orchestra  a.k.a. (the congregation against styrocultural brain damage)

·     Composer/guitarist/producer/arranger/engineer/mixed and mastered the CD entitled "War and Pom Poms."

·     Composer/guitarist/producer/arranger. Released a 22 song CD entitled C.A.S.B.D.

·     Composer/guitarist/producer/arranger of the music, story line and libretto of the avant garde rock opera "Simplex One." Musical styles include rock/funk/jazz/latin/soul/permutated gospel/spoken word/modernist composition. The seeds of this new project came out of the 22 song CD and include music from the new "War and Pom Poms" CD and the upcoming Gangr'ear CD.

·     Received a Preston Foundation grant for the Project

·     Ron’s composition Dr. Sus won first prize in jazz at the 1999 Mid Atlantic Song Contest.

·     Assembled the No Cheez Orchestra to perform his compositions from 2005 to present. The band performs complex pieces and includes stage antics based off  Ron's opera "Simplex One."

·     Recording the new No Cheez CD entitled “Gangr’ear” due out summer 2007

·     Finishing compositions for the No Cheez  CD "What's A Nice Girl Like You Doing In A Place Like This?" Due out late 2007

·     Ron plans to begin two new multi-musical genre operas.

Band leader for the rock/funk outfit Grooveyard

·     Composer, guitarist

·     Had four original releases , Grooveyard 1992, Bruthas and Sistas 1993, The Beastly Funk Knuckle 1994 and Live Antidote 1996.

·     Played throughout Connecticut and New York including famous venues such as Toads Place, Tuxedo Junction.

·     Released the Grooveyard Anthology CD “Ronnie’s Root’s” 2006

 Community activities

·   [2005-2006]                                     Event Organizer

Began the event “Poets Speak/Music Heard” at Never Ending Books, New Haven CT. He also held this event at Daniel Street Club, Milford, CT. The event had musical acts, poetry and open mic performances.  The event now had all types of musical acts, poetry, artists, dance and looking to expand into many art forms.

·   [ 2003]                             Public Service

Ron helped organize a fund raiser for Margaret Holloway. Margaret Holloway is a  homeless person who was stricken with a rare form of schizophrenia. Prior she had obtained a BA from Bennington College and an MA from the Yale School of Drama.  Ron also wrote a composition and short film entitled “The Shakespeare Lady.”  Half the profits from the DVD go directly to Miss Holloway.
